Trade Size by Asset Class Update for 7/12/13

A couple of months ago, we talked about the fact that we would update our subscribers regularly about how we view the three asset classes that we trade (Stocks, Futures, Forex) currently so that they can adjust their trading size. In the last two weeks, I've received several emails from subscribers asking if it is time to lower our size on Forex, which often dries up a bit in the late summer as…

Trading Size by Asset Class

I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to discuss trading size in the various marketplaces that we trade (stocks, futures, and Forex) and how it relates to our trade calls and signals in those markets. This conversation comes out of some of the comments that we received from the survey that we sent out last month. We discussed this briefly in the Trading Lab, but I want to have a more direct…

The Sequester and the Markets

I wanted to talk a bit about the sequester and its impact on the markets from a trading perspective. Before we get into the sequester itself, let's take a look at volume and discuss some of our thresholds. First of all, here's volume from April 2009 to April 2010. Each of these charts is going to show the daily NASDAQ volume, with a 10-day moving average of that volume, and three horizontal…

A Discussion of Forex Ranges

I get a lot of questions about the bad ranges that we are experiencing in Forex right now and what that means and whether the Forex market is now dead forever because of the regulations that have come about in the last few years, some of which protect consumers, but others cut leverage and do things that some people believe affect the market negatively in terms of range. Let me start by shooting…

Tradesight Market Preview for 12/14/11

The ES reversed sharply intraday after gapping up and then trading above yesterday’s high. Price settled right at the key 1220 area discussed in the prior report. The current setup favors that the 1200 gap is likely to fill. NQ futures were lower by 23 which, at least temporarily, puts price below the 50 and 200dmas. 2250 is a key gap window and doesn’t “fill” until the 2225 area. Multi sector…

Identifying New Ideas in a Weak Tape

The rally off the September 1st follow through day in the market has been nothing short of relentless , and in recent weeks, the market has come under significant distribution (Institutional Selling) exacerbated by headlines of Middle East unrest. While the short and long term fate of the rally may still be unknown, when the market comes under pressure, it can be a great opportunity to…

2007 End of Year Recap of All Markets…

Every year, it comes down to this. Let's have a look back at the market, analyze what happened, talk about how trading was throughout the year, and discuss the macro-economic ramifications of it all on the markets. It's never a short report, so buckle up, maybe print it out, and let's get to work. We will cover all markets here, but the main report of Tradesight remains the stock market, and from…
